Abstract

149,466. British Thomson-Houston Co., (General Electric Co.). May 28, 1919. Wireless signalling.-In systems such as that shown in Fig. 3 of Specification 15237/15, in which the potential in the plate circuit of an oscillationgenerating valve is supplied entirely by a source of low-frequency signalling-current, such as telephonic voice-currents, two oppositely-connected valves are employed for generating oscillations during the positive and negative elements of the signalling current. The plate circuits of the valves 19, 20, Fig. 2, are oppositely connected to the transformer 23, to which signalling current is supplied by a microphone 14, directly or through an amplifier. The plate circuits include a coil 8, coupled to a coil 9 in the aerial, and the grid circuits are oppositely coupled bv coils 21, 22 to a coil 11, or the coil 11 may be omitted, the coils. 21, 22 as well as the coil 8 being coupled to the coil 9. The arrangement described has the advantage that when signals are not actually being transmitted the aerial is in condition for receiving signals without disconnecting the transmitting-apparatus.
