Abstract
602,473. Refrigerators. PHILCO CORPORATION. June 4, 1945, No. 13995. Convention date, Feb. 25, 1944. [Class 29] A refrigerator door 24, or a food storage panel 25 forming a separate swinging closure within the door, is provided with a secondary closed evaporating-condensing system 21, 22 the condenser 22 of which contacts with a part 23 of the evaporator of the food storage chamber 13 when the door is closed. The evaporator portion 21 comprises, tubes bonded to the inner panel of the door, or passages between plates forming the separate panel, Fig. 5. Shelves 45 may be arranged on the panel or on the inner side of the door. The evaporator 23 is joined by pipes 33, 34 to evaporator pipes surrounding the food storage chamber, or to a separate evaporator in the storage space. The Headers 22, 23 may be replaced by coiled pipes secured to parts of the door and the refrigerator casing which contact when the door is closed. Rubber buffers 30, 49 are provided to prevent damage to the headers on slamming the door, and the header 23 may be resiliently mounted.
