Abstract

698,670. Refrigerators. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. July 28, 1952 [Aug. 27, 1951 ], No. 18966/52. Class 29 In a refrigerator comprising freezer and food storage compartments 20, 24 separated by an insulating partition 22 and cooled by low and high temperature evaporator units 26, 44 respectively, the evaporator 44 is connected between evaporator 26 and an accumulator 52 in the suction line by flexible conduits 40, 50 so that, during installation, evaporator 44 can be supported on hooks 68 on the rear wall of unit 26 and then lowered through an opening 70 in the partition and then secured in the food compartment. The opening 70 is then closed by an insulating bag 74 and a cover plate 76. A retainer strip 72 for conduits 40, 50, is provided on the evaporator unit 44.
