Abstract
601,448. Refrigerators. PHILCO RADIO & TELEVISION CORPORATION. Dec. 28, 1944, No. 26023. Convention date, Dec. 28, 1943. [Class 29] A sharp-freezing compartment 8 located beneath the main food compartment 4 has an access opening 23 at its upper part and is closed at the bottom and sides, evaporator elements being provided to cool the compartments to different temperatures. The sharp freezing compartment is in the form of a well arranged in front of the machine space 13 and as shown is separated from the food compartment, being closed by seals 25, 25b on the door 24 which closes both compartments. Evaporator coils 10 of a primary refrigerating system surround the sharp-freezing compartment and pass beneath the floor 15 of an ice tray compartment 16 separated from the food storage space 4 by a glass partition 17 sealed by a gasket strip 25a on the door. The evaporator 19 of a secondary refrigerating system surrounds the food storage space, the condensing portion 20 being in heat exchange with an evaporator portion 21 of the primary system. In a modification the compartments 4 and 8 are in open communication.
