[Class 97 (i)] Left and right eye images are projected alternately and the viewers are provided with viewing devices controlled by perforations, contacts, &c. provided in the film in association with the images. As shown in Fig. 1, apertures d1, d2, d3 are associated with right eye image frames D1, D2, D3, and apertures g1, g2, g3 are associated with left eye image frames G1, G2, G3. At the gate, Fig. 2, the film passes between two pairs of rollers, one in line with the apertures d1, d2, &c., the other g<1>, g<11> in line with the apertures g1, g2, &c. The roller g<1> is carried on a fixed pivot, g<11> on an arm 2, pivoted at 3 and urged by a spring 4 to make contact with the roller g<1> when one of the apertures g1 &c. passes. Alternatively, a metal contact extending through the film may make contact with both rollers simultaneously. The rollers may be replaced by contact strips, of a length equal to the picture height, and co-operating with a film contact. Such strips may carry a high voltage to produce a spark through film apertures as in Fig. 1. Alternatively, the viewing device is operated pneumatically or electro-pneumatically by an air stream passing through film apertures. In another modification, photo-electric cells are associated with clear and opaque areas between film frames or in the margins. One device for covering the viewer's eyes alternately has a pivoted shutter member with an iron armature attracted in opposite directions by solenoids alternately energized through film operated contacts.
