[Classes 97 (i) and 98 (ii)] A stereoscopic picture with intercalated left and right eye images is viewed through a grid A in front of the picture surface A<1>, inclined to intersect it in a line CD and having elements a, b, c tapering towards a point O in the line CD, and of maximum width such that the observers' eyes cannot resolve them. For kinematography, a projector S has separate objectives for the members of the stereoscopic pair. The grid elements may be black strips on a glass plate, black enamelled wires stretched on a frame, or conical or spherical lenticular elements on the front of a glass plate of tapering section. Such a plate may have a reflecting and dispersing rear surface. Alternatively, it may carry a photographic emulsion on its rear surface and be used to produce a stereoscopic picture for direct viewing.
