Abstract

525,427. Stereoscopic optical systems. ZEISS IKON AKT.-GES. Feb. 20, 1939, No. 5665. Convention date, Feb. 18, 1938. [Class 97 (i)] A system for projecting stereoscopic pictures with picture rotation includes an erecting prism 1, Fig. 1, inserted in the ray path of a projecting objective at an angle of 45 degrees for providing a picture rotation of 90 degrees, and the exit surface of which is divided by two polarizers 2, 3, transmitting light in different planes, and deflecting wedges 4, 5 associated therewith to bring the partial images into register. In a modification, a double prism 7, 8, Fig. 7, is used in front of the objective 6, with associated polarizers 13, 14, and wedges 11, 12 ; and to permit of the use of objectives of different focal length, the two elements of the double prism may be tiltable with respect to each other and exchangeable wedges of different power may be provided. The wedges are preferably achromatic. The pictures projected on the screen are viewed through polarizing spectacles which transmit light vibrating in different planes. Specification 505,800 is referred to.
