Abstract
231,563. Pictet, L., and Cantoni, M. Dec. 7, 1923. Stereoscopic kinematography; optical-projection apparatus; polarizing-apparatus. - Stereoscopic pictures are projected by an apparatus comprising a single light source 5, two mirrors M, M<1> projecting light beams axially spaced a distance equal to that between the centres of the right and left views, polarizing elements P, P<1>, and means for focusing and superposing the projected images; the projected images are viewed through polarizing elements A, A<1>. Each pair of polarizers A, A<1>, P, P<1> consists of piles of glass sheets arranged at right angles to one another, and so that the planes of polarization are at 45‹ to the horizontal. The mirrors M, M<1> may be adjustable in position to vary the spacing of the light beams or to concentrate the light on a single picture when the apparatus is used for ordinary projection. In apparatus for projecting kinematograph films, the mirrors M, M<1> may have adjacent segments cut away so that the distance between the axes of the light beams may be reduced. The apparatus may be used for projecting from opaque pictures.
