Abstract
601,259. Cable sleeves and couplings. CALLENDER'S CABLE & CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., BRAZIER, L. G., and HOLLINGSWORTH, D. T. June 22, 1945, No. 15959. [Classes 36 and 38 (i)] In a. sealing end for a high-tension cable 3, Fig. 1, to which the cable core has a stressdistributing cone 12 and is led through an insulator 5 filled with liquid insulation, an expansion chamber 1.1 for receiving excess liquid from the submerged sealing end is located between the stress cone and the surrounding wall, below the upper edge of the cone. The expansion chamber is an inverted U-shaped trough inserted laterally on the cable and anchored by dependent legs 17. In a gaspressure cable, Fig. 4. the chamber 42 is sealed and is open to the liquid on rupture of a seal 57 covering an opening 46 in its lower wall, a pipe 48 from the gas-entry chamber 37 leading into the interior of the expansion chamber.
