Abstract
600,639. Straightening. BIGWOOD & SON, Ltd., J., PICTON, J. B., and TINLEY, E. L. Oct. 9, 1945, No. 26242. [Class 83 (iv)] A staggered roll machine for straightening sections &c. is provided at the delivery end with pinch rolls at right angles to the straightening rolls. The straightening rolls 13 are rotated through gearing from an electromotor. The pinch rolls 47 correct the work at right angles to the straightening rolls and are rotated by gearing 69, 77 from a shaft 78 rotated by an electromotor. The rolls are independently adjustable by screws 51, 52 from handwheels 61 and are carried in a frame 46 adjustable by a screw 91 from an electromotor. A correcting roll 29 vertically adjustable by a screw 32 rotated by an electromotor 41 to ensure work leaving the straightening rolls in a horizontal direction is mounted on a frame 28 adjustable by a screw 42 and electromotor 43. The frames 46, 28 move on a bed 26, 27 arranged to allow either of the frames to be moved to an inoperative position. Specification 600,638 is referred to.
