595,477. Angular bending. GREEN, L. B. June 13, 1945, No. 14982. Convention date, July 26, 1944. [Class 83 (iv)] In apparatus for bending tubes &c. the tube is anchored by clamps 18 to an adjustable table 16 and is positioned between a grooved roll 13 and a grooved former 14 on an arm 12 rotated about a bearing 32. To vary the curvature the roll is radially adjustable by a bolt 47 and a support 52 in which the former 14 slides is adjustable by screws 54. The arm 12 is swung by a gear 40, rotated by a hydraulic motor, engaging a fixed rack 39. In operation, the tube end is secured by the clamps 18 and the roll and former adjusted for curvature and the arm 12 swung to effect bending. To compensate for the creep of the former in the support 52 a gear 56 engaging the former is rotated by hydraulic means.
