Abstract

626,805. Angular bending. BRIGGS MOTOR BODIES, Ltd., and BUCKNALL, C. G. July 24, 1947, No. 19878. [Class 83 (iv)] In a hand or power-operated machine for folding the edge of a sheet, the sheet S is clamped to a support 19 by a plate 20 actuated by toggles 24 operated by an air cylinder 27 controlled from a pedal 28. A bending member 6, with cam adjusted blade 12 is journalled in side frames 1, 2, and swung to effect bending by air cylinders 11 with rack-and-pinion gearing 9, 8 controlled by a pedal 32. An adjustable stop 34 on the rack 9 actuates links 31 to reverse the control valve of the cylinder 27 to withdraw the clamp 20 and the member 6 then completes the bend shown in Fig. 3. Similar stops on a rack at the other end of the machine then reverse the control valve for the cylinder 11 to restore the member 6. The machine may be electrically operated.
