Abstract
672,178. Bending. LINSINGEN, M. VON, (trading as BOCHUMER EISENHUETTE HEINTZMANN & CO.). Aug. 11, 1950 [Aug. 13, 1949], No. 20016/50. Class 83 (iv). A bending machine comprising three rolls arranged in a triangle, the distance between the supporting rolls 2 and the pressure roll 1 being adjustable at right angles to the feed of the work, is characterized by the pressure roll 1 being displaceably guided approximately parallel to the direction of the feed. The pressure roll 1 is carried by a link block 3 guided in a slot 4 in the machine frame 5. The block 3 has an internal thread 6 which engages threads on a spindle 7 rotatable by a hand. wheel 8. The slot 4 is approximately parallel to the feed motion of the work. Each of the supporting rolls 2 carry on their axles 10 a pinion 11 driven from a common pinion 12 which is driven by an electric motor. The axles 10 are guided by link blocks 13 in slots 14 concentric with the pinion 12. Displacement of the link blocks 13 is effected by links 15 connected to a guide nut 17 on a spindle 16 driven by bevel gearing 18 from a shaft 20 rotatable by a hand wheel 19. Spindles 7 and 16 may be interconnected and operated by one hand wheel. In operation, the pressure roll 1 is moved towards the supporting roll furthest from the work and the supporting rolls are lowered to enable the work to be laid on the front supporting roll and easily inserted between the pressure roll and the rear supporting roll where the end of the work is drawn in and pre-bent. The rolls are then moved back into their final positions and the bending process completed.
