Abstract

691,162. Drawing tubes &c. KREIDLER, A. Aug. 15, 1951 [Aug. 16, 1950], No. 19211/51. Class 83 (iv). Bending.-In a method of drawing bars, tubes, &c., the work is guided to the die at an adjustable angle such that the finished work is straight. A work-piece 9 is guided to a die 2 by an adjustable guide 5 which is set in a central position for an initial drawing operation and is then re-set to a position which compensates for any curvature in the work. The guide is mounted in a yoke 6 attached to the die mounting 1 by bolts 3 and is adjustable in two directions by screws 8 engaging opposed flat faces 5<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2, on the guide. In modifications the guide may be adjusted by eccentrics and may be capable of angular adjustment so that its axis is displaced relative to the axis of the die. In further modifications the guide may have a quadrilateral aperture and may have guiding parts adjustable to the thickness of the work. Alternatively the guide may comprise rollers, rails, &c.
