Abstract

1,032,127. Straightening. MANNESMANN MEER A.G. Dec. 12, 1962 [Dec. 12, 1961], No. 46953/62. Heading B3E. Apparatus for straightening bars or tubes has one or more tools for embracing the bar so that the bar can move through the tool(s) without rotation, the tool(s) being arranged for forced oscillation in two mutually perpendicular directions in a plane perpendicular to the feed direction of the body through the tool(s). A girder to be straightened is passed between rollers 13, 14 carried by a frame 1 which is reciprocated horizontally in a slideway 2 by crank means 8, 9 while the slideway 2 is reciprocated vertically by crank means 4, 5. The crank radii e5 and e9 are independently adjustable, e.g. by bushes with eccentric bore, between zero and a maximum value. The rotation of the cranks may differ in phase or frequency. The reciprocations may alternatively be effected by electromagnetic or fluid pressure means. A plurality of straightening tools may be arranged one after the other with driving or guide rollers between.
