Abstract

The continuously operating forging machine is used for forging continuous matl. such as bars and rods. The hammers are used to deform the shape of the matl. and the hammers act simultaneously as workpiece transporters. The workpiece is fed forwards, depending on its cross section and length of the bar either only by the oscillating movement of the hammers or by means of a separate transporter roll which acts in conjunction with the oscillating hammers. This machine can forge bar matl. of any length and of any cross section and the matl. is moved in a straight line through the machine. The matl. is not upset. The hammers have flexible guides for their movements in the feed direction of the matl. This flexible guiding of hammers ensures that the hammers penetrating the workpiece matl. do not impart accelerations of the workpiece against the feed direction. The flexible support for the hammers is provided by an adjustable hydraulic system. The machine housing accommodates hammers which are driven by eccentric shafts which are parallel to the workpiece axis. An oscillating movement in the direction of the workpiece movements is imparted to the hammers by the cylindrical guides and by the single gear tooth arrangement.
