955,317. Tentering-machines. A. LEIMER, [trading as ERHARDT.& LEIMER OHG]. Feb.19, 1962 [Feb. 22, 1961], No. 6256/62. Heading D1S. Apparatus for introducing fabric into a tentering machine, of the kind having lead-in cheeks 11 which move to follow deviations in the selvedge in response to control means 5, 14 operated by at least one feeler 1 associated with the selvedge, is characterized in that the output from the control means is dependent upon the magnitude of the deviations and upon the rate of change of the deviations. The feeler 1 is connected to the control 4 of a potentiometer 5 and is pressed against the selvedge by a spring 6 fixed between an extension 7 thereof and a rod 8. The feeler device is secured to the cheek 11 by a bolt 9 and an arm 10. A roller 12 supports the cheek 11 on a bearer 13 having a rack 22 mounted thereon. A D.C. motor 17 drives a pinion 19 pressed into engagement with the rack 22 by a spring 23 and is secured on an arm 20 pivoted to a bolt 21 fixed to the cheek 11. The potentiometer 5 is connected to a control 14 feeding the field windings of a D.C. generator 15 coupled with a three phase motor 16. The motors 16,17 and the generator 15 are connected to form a Ward-Leonard set. In operation, the cheek 11 and also the feeler 1 are moved by the pinion 19 in response to the output of the control 14. The electrical circuit is described.
