Abstract
600,621. Refrigerating. PHILCO RADIO & TELEVISION CORPORATION. Feb. 26, 1945, No. 4792. Convention date, Feb. 26,1944. [Class 29] An evaporator comprises a C-shaped body member 6 having parallel refrigerant channels 7 the upper and lower ends of which are in open communication, respectively, with suction and feeding headers 15. The headers 15, which are welded to the body member 6, comprise longitudinal intercommunicating chambers 22, 23, separated by a partition 21 in which is arranged a series of ports 24 in staggered relation to ports 19 in the refrigerant channels. The ends of the channels 7 in the C-shaped body are closed by the inner surfaces of the outer walls of the headers. The refrigerant is supplied by a capillary tube 29 and passes first through a sinuous passage 28 in a shelf 27 and thence through a pipe 25 to the mid point of the feeder 15, a tube 26 forming the outlet from the mid point of the suction header 15 to the compressor. The evaporator is secured to the wall of the refrigerator by bolts passing through holes 33, the other end being closed by a panel 34, also a door is hinged at 36. The body member and the headers may be of extruded metal.
