Abstract

653,760. Refrigerators. C. S. A. INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and MARSHALL, F. G. May 3, 1948, No. 12004. [Class 29] A refrigerator cabinet comprises a deepfreeze chamber and a food storage chamber of different sizes spaced apart and. having separate closure means, and cooled by a single refrigerating system 14 having two evaporators 21, 23 of different volumetric capacities in series, the larger evaporator 21, fed with refrigerant through an expansion valve 20, being associated with the smaller (deep-freeze) chamber 13 and communicating through an unrestricted pipe 22 with the smaller evaporator 23 associated with the larger (food storage) chamber. The deep-freeze chamber 13 is arranged above the machine compartment and to the side of the food storage compartment and has the evaporator coil 21 soldered or brazed around it. The smaller evaporator 23 embraces the usual ice tray compartment 25 in the food storage chamber and has a thermostat 28 controlling the motor through a switch 27. The deep-freeze chamber may be accessible only through the food storage chamber.
