Abstract
725,547. Refrigerating. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Dec. 11, 1953 [Dec. 12, 1952], No. 34580/53. Class 29. A compression refrigerating system for cooling a refrigerator having low and high temperature compartments comprises, in series, an evaporator 9 in the high temperature compartment, a valve device 12 which maintains a constant pressure differential between its own inlet and outlet, an ice-making evaporator section 15 in the low temperature compartment 4, a restriction 17 and a low temperature evaporator 16 of the recirculating type. The compressormotor unit 7 is controlled in accordance with the temperature of evaporator 9 by a switch 19. The restrictor 17 acts as an injector at the lowest points of evaporator 16 for ensuring circulation of refrigerant therein. Whenever. evaporator section 15 is loaded, the restriction 17, by its resistance to flow of gas, creates an increased pressure difference between the evaporators 15, 16 and this is reflected in an increase in the pressure and temperature of evaporator 9. This ensures a prolonged running period for the system. Device 12 may be constructed as described in Specification 709,617, [Group XXIX].
