Abstract
752,762. Refrigerators. ELECTROLUX, Ltd. Aug. 31, 1954 [Nov. 28, 1953], No. 25221/54. Class 29. In a refrigerator cabinet cooled by a continuous cycle absorption refrigerating system of the inert gas type, the evaporator 14, 19, Fig. 1, is located outside the storage space 23 and heatconducting metal plates 21, 22 are secured to the evaporator and extend into the storage space through a narrow slot 24 in the cabinet liner. The slates may be spaced apart sufficiently to allow a storage space between them. As shown in Fig. 4, the refrigerator is cooled by the usual low and high temperature evaporators 30, 32 and, in addition, the upper part of the low temperature area 39 is cooled by a metal plate 36 attached to a low temperature evaporator 28 located outside the storage space. Evaporators 28, 30, 32 are connected, Fig. 3, in series for flow of refrigerant and inert gas which flow in the same direction. A part of the rich gas is diverted from the gas heat exchanger 16 through pipes 18, 17 to precool the liquid refrigerant in a pipe 13<SP>1</SP> provided with a liquid seal 26, 27 at each end. The boiler for this embodiment is provided with two pumps of different diameters, the diameter of the smaller being such that it still pumps sufficient solution, when the heat supply is reduced by the cabinet thermostat, to ensure a supply of liquid refrigerant to the low temperature evaporator 28.
