646,083. Refrigerating. ELECTROLUX, Ltd., Feb. 19, 1948, No. 4874. Convention date, Feb. 28, 1947. '[Class 29] A refrigerator cabinet 50 cooled by an absorption refrigerating system of the inert gas type and divided into at least two compartments 63, 64 each cooled by an individual evaporator operating at a temperature different from that of the other evaporators, the liquid refrigerant flowing by gravity, includes an evaporator 52 disposed in a substantially horizontal plane and acting as a support for ice trays 53 or the like and forming the ceiling of the deep freezing compartment 64 which contains containers 57 suspended from bars 55, 56 on the under side of the evaporator 52. The upper compartment 63 is cooled by a vertically disposed evaporator 51 which may be stepped at 65 to support a shelf and which may lie above a partition to subdivide the compartment 63. Above the ice-trays 53, a heat reflecting member 54 comprising spaced aluminium sheets is disposed. The members 51, 52 are in the form of casings containing high and low temperature coils 29, 26 respectively of the refrigerating system shown in Fig. 1, the evaporator 26 being disposed at a level between the top of the absorber 22 and the liquid level in the absorber vessel 21. Vapours from the generator flow through condenser elements 13, 15 and 17 in series, condensate from the element 13 flowing to the lowest run of the element 17, through a pipe 42, condensate from the element 17 flowing through a pipe 18 to the evaporator 29, and condensate from the element 15 flowing through a pipe 19 in heat exchange with both evaporator 29 and a gas heat exchanger 46 to the evaporator 26. Inert gas from the absorber 22 flows up through a vertical gas heat exchanger 45, down through the gas heat exchaner 46, through the evaporator 26 in counterflow to the liquid refrigerant, up through the heat exchanger 46, through the evaporator 29 in the same direction as the liquid refrigerant and down through the heat exchanger 45 to the absorber vessel 21. At low ambient temperatures the condenser element 13 ensures supply of refrigerant to the evaporator 29 to initiate the inert gas circulation.
