Abstract

600,421. Automatic circuit breakers. THEUNISSEN, F. J. M. Sept. 27, 1945, No. 25112. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1944. Addition to 599,407. [Class 38 (v)] In an automatic circuit-breaker of the type disclosed in the parent Specification, the relay coil has two armatures, one acting on the tripping mechanism and the other directly on the movable contact. On a moderate overload, a bimetal strip 24 trips a pawl 30 and the bridging contact 22 opens under the pressure of a spring 34. Upon a heavy overload, the main armature 40 is attracted by the coil 23 and trips the pawl 30, thereby releasing the contact 22. In addition, the part 27 of the contact spindle is magnetic and is also attracted to supplement the action of spring 34.
