Abstract

357,369. Automatic circuit-breakers. VOIGT & HAEFFNER AKT.-GES., 146, Hanauerlandstrasse, Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Sept. 22, 1930, No. 28254. Convention date, May 8. [Class 38 (v).] In an automatic circuit-breaker of the loosehandle type, an electromagnetic overload release device has a pair of magnet windings 3a, 3b adapted to attract a spring-mounted armature 17 situated below a pivoted tripping member 19, 19a. The circuit-breaker is further provided with an independent slowly-acting thermal release due to a bimetallic current-carrying strip 20 mounted below the armature and adapted, when it bends upwards, to actuate a projecting part 19b of the tripping member 19. In the closure of the circuit-breaker, a pivoted handle 14 acts through overset toggle links on the movable contact member 5 and one of the links has a projecting limit 15 lying in the path of the tripping member 19 so that the toggle can be automatically broken by either of the releasing devices. The contact member and the handle are situated between the two magnet windings. Iron core-plates 2a, 2b are shaped and extended so as to form a magnetic blow-out.
