Abstract

436,589. Automatic circuit-breakers. CRABTREE, J. A., Endwood, Little Aston Park, Sutton Coldfield. April 5, 1934, No. 10351. [Class 38 (v)] The bi-metallic strip release is formed into a substantially tubular or sleeve-like body surrounding its heating coil, and the latter also constitutes the magnetizing coil of a magnetic release operative on heavy overloads. The bimetal strip may be connected in series with its coil. In both Figs. the coil b is housed in the sleeve-like body c<1> of the bimetal strip c, the free end c<2> of which effects the tripping movement. In Fig. 1, the latch parts d are also adapted to be operated on by a member a serving as a solenoid plunger to the coil b, but in Fig. 2 (not shown), a, c<2> act on the respective arms of a bell-crank lever. In Fig. 6, the coil b encloses a core e having pole-pieces e<2> and a spring- or gravity-controlled armature e<8> operable on a trip-member f.
