599,740. Interconnected valve closure members. AUXILIAIRE DES CHEMINS DE FER ET DE L'INDUSTRIE. May 14, 1945, No. 12055. Convention date, Sept. 11, 1944. [Class 135] A double-beat, blow-down valve for a steam boiler, comprises valve discs 6, 7, both of which are normally held closed on their seats, but are elasticaUv connected by a spring 10, one end of which abuts against a ring 11 on the stem 9 of the disc 7 and the other against a cup 8 secured to the disc 6, a clearance 12 providing lost-motion between the discs. The discs are opened against a spring 16 by fluid pressure acting on a piston 15 connected by a rod 13 to the disc 6. The presence of foreign matter between one of the discs and its seating will not prevent closure of the other disc. The discs may be opened by a hand-operated lever.
