Abstract

188,290. Jones, E. I., (Jones, Ltd., I.). June 14, 1922. Rotary disc or sector valves. - A blow - off valve for steam boilers comprises a casing having a flat seating 9 around the valve port 11, and a loosely mounted disc valve 12 sliding on the seating which extends at 9<a> the whole of its travel, which valve 12 closes the port under steam pressure from a connection 7 to the boiler. The disc valve is loosely carried in a yoke 15 integral with a stem 19 about which it pivots, and which bears on a seating 17 under the pressure of a spring washer 23 external to the casing and also, preferably, by the internal steam pressure. The casing is in two parts 1, 2 bolted together with a joint between a V ring 4 on the one part and a turned groove 5 in the other. The discharge pipe is screwed at 8 to the cover 2 of the casing.
