Abstract

599,438. Lawn-mowers. BOOTON, C. F. Jan. 2, 1945, No. 107. Addition to 561,474. [Class 6 (ii)] The lawn-mower of the parent Specification is now modified by providing a rotatably adjustable eccentric between the shear blade 11 and the part 212 to which it is pivoted about fulcrum 27, the eccentric engaging a slider 44 mounted in a guide 43 on the part 212 and the arrangement being such that upon rotation of the eccentric the blade is caused to tilt about its fulcrum 27 to the required angle. As shown, a stud 25 is fixed to the part 112 carrying blade 11 and passes through a clearance hole 24 in part 212. A guide channel is cut in one face of the part 212 in which channel the slider 44 is guided for sliding movement towards or away from the fulcrum. The guide has a bore for receiving an eccentric boss 46 on a hand wheel 126 and the arrangement is such that a rotation of hand wheel 126 causes a rotation in the same direction of the blade about its fulcrum. A diametral line on the hand wheel and a pointer 49 on part 212 give a visual indication of the blade setting. The blade assembly is supported as in the parent Specification by end lugs 13, the upper ends of which encircle eccentrics 17 on a sleeve 18. These upper ends may be split and fitted with clamping bolts 41 and the sleeve 18 has a handle (not shown) for rotating the eccentrics.
