Abstract

1,164,603. Lawn mowers. B. S. HAYNES. 12 Sept., 1967 [14 June, 1966], No. 26457/66. Heading A1F. [Also in Division F2] In a lawn mower comprising a chassis 11 supported on wheels 12 and an adjustable roller 13, and carrying a rotary blade 14, the roller 13 is rotatably mounted adjacent one end of a bell-crank lever 18 pivotally mounted on a cylindrical boss 19 on the chassis. The other arm of lever 18 is bifurcated and is connected by a pin 22 to the lower end of a rod 23 which is connected by a bowden cable 39 to an actuating lever 46 fulcrummed on a mower handle 15. The rod 23 is slidably received in a sleeve 25 welded to a block 26 which is secured to the chassis 11 by a screwthreaded lug 30. An open-box shaped part 27 is welded to the upper end of sleeve 25 A spring 34 located on rod 23 between block 26 and the bifurcated arm of lever 18 urges the rod 23 towards its lowermost position. The pin 22 has a screwthreaded connection with the rod 23. A scale 41 is marked on the upper end of rod 23 to indicate the position of the rod relative to the mounting.
