Abstract

951,331. Slicing machines. GLOBE SLICING MACHINE CO. Inc. Aug. 2, 1960, No. 26789/60. Heading A4C. In a power-driven rotary-knife slicing machine, the knife 12 is secured to a shaft 20 rotatable around a fixed shaft 59, about the axis of which a knife guard 11 is pivoted, the guard being movable from a position in which an arcuate portion 34 is situated between the knife edge 26 and a sharpening attachment 39 to one which allows the sharpening attachment to be moved into its operative position. The shaft 59, comprising portions 43, 54, 44, 45, 46 of different diameters, is mounted in a portion 47 of the machine frame and carries a bushing 28 provided with a pin 29 projecting into an arcuate slot in the part 25 of the guard to limit the movement of the guard. A bushing 27 in the guard engages the screwed end of rod 24 which passes through the shaft 59 and carries a nut 51 operation of which causes the adjustment of the guard relative to the knife edge.
