Abstract

598,771. Tubular heat-exchange apparatus. MORRIS MOTORS, Ltd., and DONO, G. E. Sept. 10, 1945, No. 23239. [Class 64 (iii)] In a heat exchanger comprising headers connected by a number of thin metal tubes a of flattened or elongated cross-section, arranged in rows one behind another and passing through gill plates b which are parallel to each other and at right angles to the tubes, the tubes are segregated into groups, through at least two of which different liquids, e.g., cooling water and lubricating oil from an internal combustion engine, are caused to flow by separate compartments formed in the headers in part by a tube plate c, and in part either as shown by separate hollow cover pieces e the mouths of which are secured directly to the tube-plate in fluid-tight manner or by a partitioned single hollow cover piece secured to the tube plate.
