Abstract
598,411. Rope-driven conveyers. TAYLOR, E. Sept. 3, 1945, No. 22551. [Class 78(i)] A belt 43 is driven by drums 1 and 28, Fig. 10, and passes to the end drum 44 of the conveyer whilst, in the other direction, it passes round an adjustable pulley 34 and a pulley 34a to the end drum 39. A rope 3, Fig. 5, driven from a pulley 2 on the drum 1 passes over pulleys 6 at the end of belt rollers 7 to a pulley 4, then goes round a pulley 5 back to the pulley 4 again and returns to the pulley 2. Pulleys 5, 4 are adjustable, and the slack of the top and bottom ropes is taken up by wheels 18a pivoted at 17 and fixed by bolts 18, Fig. 8. The conveyer frame may be made with a telescoping portion so as to allow the belt to be extended in length whilst the looping of the driving rope permits an equal extension without. splicing.
