Abstract
771,660. Endless-belt conveyers. PIEMONT, G. Oct. 6, 1955 [Oct. 29, 1954], No. 28497/55. Class 78 (1). The framework 1 of a belt conveyer 2 is hinged at 4 to the upper part of an undercarriage mounted on wheels 6, 11, the distance apart of which can be varied. The part 5 consists of two side struts suitably cross-braced and carrying a single wheel 6 between them. Two wheels 11 are mounted in a similarlyconstructed part 7 which is pivoted at 9 to a bracket 10 mounted on the part 5. A cable 12 secured to a yoke 14 fitted on the axle of the wheel 6 is passed round a sheave 15 mounted on the axle of the wheels 11, and over a sheave on the arm 7 to a winch barrel 18. Another cable 22 anchored to the framework 1 is passed over a pulley 23 mounted on the axle of the wheels 11 and round a sheave 25 mounted on the arm 7 to a winch barrel 26. The winches are driven by crank handles 21, 29 through worm gearing. The cables and winches may be replaced by hydraulic or mechanical jacks.
