Abstract

847,238. Earthworking equipment. POWER HANDLING Ltd. Nov. 6,1957 [Nov. 6,1956], No. 33791/56. Class 68(1). [Also in Group XXX] The turntable of the jib of a trencher is slewed by two rams 1 which, via sprockets (or pulleys) 9 carried by ram-rods 3 engage chain (or belt) 5 attached at 6 to a slewing sprocket 4 fixed to and carried by the turntable. Chain 5 is secured at its ends 7 to the mobile chassis which carries the turntable. Pipes 13 are interconnected so that fluid is supplied simultaneously to one end of one ram and to the opposite end of the other ram and is exhausted from the other two pipes. An overload relief valve is included in the circuit. The two ends of the ram rods are connected by chain (or belt) 10 to ensure the complementary action of the two rams. The turntable carries and runs on three rollers engaging the inclined surface of an annular runway.
