Abstract

896,000. Slewing jib cranes. RUBERY OWEN & CO. Ltd. March 1, 1961 [March 3, 1960], No. 7505/60. Class 78 (4). [Also in Group XXI] Slewing means for a boom-carrying king post 17 of a crane consists of an hydraulic pistoncylinder assembly 39, 41 mounted at rightangles to the axis of the king post and rigidly fixed in relation to said axis so that pulleys 45 on the free ends of a piston-rod 41 projecting from either end of the cylinder 39 of the assembly can simultaneously act on a pair of cables 37, 38. The cables 37, 38 are fixed to the chassis of the machine or to the frame by which the king post is mounted on the chassis and pass part-way around a sheave 34 secured to the king post before being secured at 36 to the sheave.
