814,826. Portable conveyers. HARRIS, G. Oct. 8, 1957 [July 9, 1956], No. 21133/56. Class 78 (1). In a portable agricultural elevator comprising a boom 1 on which an endless conveying element, e.g. an endless belt, is mounted, an axle 3 carrying a pair of ground-engaging wheels 4, a stay 11 connecting the axle 3 to the lower end of the boom, and a strut 2 pivoted at its lower end to the axle 3 and having its upper end slidable in a guide 5 on the underside of the boom for adjusting the elevation of the boom, there is provided a second axle 9 mounted on the lower end of the boom and carrying a pair of wheels 10, and a pair of links 6, 7 hinged together and connected between the axle 9 and the strut 2. When the strut 2 is moved downwardly in the guide 5, e.g. by a cable extending from a winch on the boom or on the ground to the strut 2, the hinged connection between the links 6, 7 is moved into contact with the ground so that after the upper end of the boom has been raised a certain distance the wheels 10 are lifted off the ground (Fig. 3) so that both upper and lower ends of the boom 1 are thereafter simultaneously lifted.
