Abstract
572,019. Conveyers. FISHER, W. C., and FOURWAYS (ENGINEERS), Ltd., (formerly FOURWAYS GARAGE, Ltd.). Oct. 14, 1943, No. 16883. [Class 78 (i)] In a portable conveyer of the kind including a pair of conveyer-band booms, a single endless band serves for both booms and passes directly without discontinuity along the upper surfaces of the booms, means being provided to maintain the band tangential to fixed circles concentric with the boom pivot axes. The booms g, h, Figs. 1, 1a, are carried by shafts e, f, respectively, which are mounted in bearings on the frame Structure a. The conveyer chains i are connected by hardwood slats m, n, the latter of which are of either greater height than the former or are provided with upstanding projections. The lower run of the chains passes over a pair of driving sprockets z mounted on a shaft y which is disposed in a horizontal plane slightly below that containing the shafts; e, f. The shaft y is driven by an internal combustion engine 7 through chain-and-sprocket gearing. The boom h is supported by a pair of telescopic struts o which are secured in any position by clamping screws r. The boom g is supported by a pair of wire ropes s, which are attached to winding drums u, v, and by a pair of struts x which are pivoted to the structure a at j. In a modification the ropes s are dispensed with and each boom is supported in the .same manner as the boom h.
