Abstract
613,538. Step-by-step conveyers. DORR CO. March 13, 1946, No. 7804. Convention date, April 14, 1945. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group II] In a classifier of the reciprocating rake type, two rake structures R23, L23, Fig. 1, longitudinally disposed in a tank 10 are secured to the ends of cross-arms 34, 35, Figs. 1, 7, which are pivoted about a vertical axes 41 to a rockable longitudinal shaft 40. An extension 50 from cross-arm 34 engages a telescopic member 51 attached by ball-and-socket means 54 to a continuously driven endless chain 52. The motion of the member 54 around the sprockets 58, 59 imparts to the cross-arm 34 a substantially horizontal rocking motion about its pivot 41 alternating with a substantially vertical rocking motion about the axis of the shaft 40, the rake structures secured to the ends of the cross-arm having a motion corresponding to that of member 54 but being in opposed phase relationship with each other.
