Abstract
1,090,851. Endless conveyers. J. D. DYSON and C. R. DYSON. Jan. 8, 1965 [Jan. 14, 1964], No. 1656/64. Heading B8A. An inclined endless elevating conveyer formed from linked rods is driven by a pair of sprockets 22 located towards the lower end of the conveyer return run 16, the conveyer passing around at least 120 degrees of the circumference of the sprockets 22 due to the arrangement of a guide roller 34. The latter is mounted on an axle 40 supported in links 38 which are pivoted at their remote ends on a sprocket shaft 28. The roller 34 is adjustable to tension the conveyer by means of a link 42 attached at one end to the roller axle 40 and at the other end in pin and slot engagement with a fixed link 48. The shaft 28 carrying sprockets 22 is driven at one end by a chain and sprocket, or belt and pulley arrangement. The roller 34 may be replaced by a pair of coaxial pulleys or sprockets. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 (not shown) a fixed roller engages the conveyer on the side of the drive sprockets remote from the aforesaid adjustable roller, whereby the lap angle of the conveyer around the sprockets is increased. In the embodiment of Fig. 2 (not shown) the roller (34) has its axle fixed and tensioning is effected by guide roller (70) which is incorporated in the tensioning device described.
