Abstract
597,364. Connectors for fluid containers. BLAIR, W., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Aug. 17, 1945, No. 21000. [Class 99 (i)] A connector for transferring fluid from a reservoir to a container 14 has a pair of coacting jaws 1, 5 between which a part 15 of the container carrying an inlet may be interposed, means for opening the jaws to admit the part and closing them to grip it, a passageway 7 through the jaw 5 to be juxtaposed with the container inlet and a tubular union 8 for connecting the passageway to the reservoir ; sealing means 9 surrounds the passageway to ensure a seal with the inlet. The means for actuating the jaws comprises a spring and lever arrangement as shown, the lever 10 being pivoted about the pin 12 and attached to the movable jaw 1 by the pin 11 ; the spring 3 forces the jaw to grip the part 15 of the container on moving the lever upwards. The cylinder 2 containing the spring 3 and the movable jaw 1 is rigidly connected to the jaw 5 which is mounted on a handle 6. Both jaws may be spring actuated.
