Abstract

575,711. Riveting. AXON, F. T., and AXON, T. F. March 22, 1944, No. 5361. [Class 83 (iv)] A riveting gun has formed therewith or applied thereto means for bringing an abutment into contact with the other end of the rivet. As applied to a fluid - operated gun, a piston 1 is secured at 3 to the outside of the gun and a cylinder 4a slides upon it; packing being fitted at 5. Pressure fluid supplied at 11, by a branch from the supply for the gun, is controlled by a press valve 8. A yoke 12 is secured to a part 4b of the cylinder and carries the abutment 13 for the rivet. A stop may be fitted to limit the movement of the abutment. In a hand-operated form, a collar adjustably screwed on the gun is pivotally linked to a hand lever pivoted to the yoke that slides on the rear part of the gun.
