593,535. Filters. PUGH, C. A., JARVIS, P. J., and PLESSEY CO., Ltd. June 2, 1945, No. 13878. [Class 46] [Also in Group XXIX] A filter and flow-controlling device for liquids comprises a helically-grooved tapered pin 1 arranged within a tapered sleeve 3 which is surrounded by a cylindrical holder 6 carrying a fine-mesh metal gauze filter 9. The sleeve is reduced to provide a fine clearance 4 between it and the holder, and the holder is formed with a ring of apertures 7. The parts are secured in a housing 10 and held in place by a detachable plug 14 and a spring 13. The liquid passes through an inlet 15, filter 9, apertures 7, and clearance 4, and along the helical groove in the pin 1 to an outlet 16.
