Abstract

626,211. Filters. MAIN WATER HEATERS, Ltd., and GREGORY, A. R. April 15, 1946, No. 11558. [Class 46] [Also in Group XXIX] An adjustable throttle for controlling fluid flow and acting also as a filter comprises a helical spring 15 positioned in a T-shaped casing between an inturned flange 11 at the inlet 12 and an adjustable abutment 14 screwed into the opposite limb of the casing and the outlet for the fluid is provided through the arm 16 of the casing. The abutment 14 is disposed wholly within the threaded portion of the casing and it is covered by a plug 20 which also engages the threaded portion. The ends of the spring are .provided with ferrules 18. In a modification constituting a pressure regulator, the lower end of the spring rests on a plate provided with apertures which are normally obscured by flange 11. When the pressure of liquid is sufficient to force the plate away from the flange, the liquid flows through the apertures into the interior of the spring.
