Abstract
490,081. Fluid-pressure servomotorcontrol systems. LAIDLAW, A. B. S. April 16, 1937, No. 10937. [Class 135] In a fuel-burning system the rate of combus. tion is maintained constant under control of a thermostat C which regulates a fuel leak-off valve L. The thermostat may be replaced by a pressure or speed device. Fuel under pressure from a pipe F passes to a burner pipe E, being regulated by a piston A. A relief valve B, constructed in accordance with Specification 437,327 controls the quantity of fuel passing to an overflow O. When the combustion temperature is below that required, the thermostat C opens valve L and fluid will flow from the upper piston chamber of B. The reduction in pressure is transmitted to A and causes an increased flow of fuel through E. The valve B has upper and lower pistons of different areas, pressed apart by a spring, and a conduit 10 embodying a needle valve leading to the chamber containing the upper piston.
