Abstract

591,833. Bobbin holders for winding &c. machines. CARTER & CO., Ltd., B. & F., CARTER, B., and CARTER, E. Feb. 28, 1945, No. 4962. [Class 120 (ii)] [Also in Groups VIII and XXII] A holder for cops, bobbins and the like for use in textile winding and spinning machines comprises a base 1 and a spindle 2 provided with two or more compressible rings 5, 6, preferably of rubber, of a size requiring them to be compressed by a cop tube 7 and to roll along the spindle during replacement or removal of the tube, stops being provided at the ends of the spindle and between the rings to limit the rolling movement of the rings. The spindle may be tapered and may have longitudinal grooves formed in it to improve the driving force. In addition, the tube may have longitudinal grooves in its bore. The base 1 of the holder may be recessed to allow the tube 7 to be pushed beyond the bottom of the spindle 2 to allow for a slight return movement of the tube to the normal position resulting from the compression of the rubber rings 5, 6.
