Winding-machines.-Relates to spindles for holding cardboard cones, tubes, or the like in yarn-winding machines, of the kind wherein loose clutch devices comprising rods or rollers are mounted in longitudinal grooves in the spindle so that they automatically move to engage or release the tube upon relative movement of the spindle and tube. The spindle is provided with circumferential grooves to accommodate wire or other binding-elements 4 which engage grooves in the clutch rollers 2.
