Abstract
433,478. Winding yarns. McKEAN, J. O., 82, Court Street, Westfield, Massachusetts, U.S.A. March 5, 1934, No. 6950. Convention date, March 29, 1933. Addition to 402,015. [Class 120 (ii)] To obviate slippage of the package on the combined winding and traversing roller when winding a tapered package with the use of the traversing roller having a plurality of non-intersecting yarn engaging grooves arranged in oppositely disposed helices of the parent Specification, the traversing roller 2 is of tapered form. The features of the roller are otherwise similar to those of the roller of the parent Specification, that is : at the points of crossing, the leading edges of the intermediate grooves are flared as shown at 8, 10 ; long and short intermediate grooves are provided ; the end grooves 6, 7 are made shallower at the ends of the traverse movement; and the grooves generally are of the same depth.
