Abstract

402,015. Traverse-arrangements for yarn-winding machines. McKEAN, J. O., 82, Court Street, Westfield, Massachusetts, U.S.A. June 28, 1933, No. 18456. Convention date, Jan. 27. [Class 120 (ii).] A rotary traverse means for yarn-winding machines is provided with long non- intersecting oppositely disposed helical grooves 6, 7 and short intermediate grooves 8, 9, 10 arranged as shown in the plane development in Fig. 5. The return ends 11, 12 of the grooves 6, 7 are shallow to permit the yarn to be delivered to the package with a minimum amount of lash and a sharp return. Otherwise all the grooves are substantially the same depth and each groove is flared at its leading end. The yarn passes from the return end 11 to the groove 8 and the groove 7 and thence from the return end 12 to the grooves 10, 9 to the groove 6.
