Abstract

499,138. Bobbins or tubes. LOWRY, A. S. June 15, 1937, No. 16532. [Class 120 (iii)] The winding surface of a conical tube or bobbin for holding yarns or threads is treated with shredded material to give a good gripping surface and to prevent slipping of the windings, the material being applied with a suitable adhesive to a paper blank which is subsequently wound to form the tube or the outer surface of a previously-formed tube. The shredded fibrous material may be paper, wool, cotton, kapok, or leather.
