589,791. Rotary internal-combustion .engines. GINDRE, H. April 5, 1945, No. 8459. Convention date, April 19, 1944. [Class 110 (ii)] A rotor 2 carries two or more curved cylinders 18, 19 containing pistons 15, 16, which slide in the cylinders, the pistons being carried on arms 11, 12, coupled to the rotor by sun-and-planet gearing 3, 6, 4 and a crank-pin in a sliding block 9. Suction and expansion piston strokes are longer than the exhaust and compression strokes. Packing segments 28, 29 on the rotor coact with the bore of the stationary cylinder 1 and are pierced by ports 22, 23, for the admission and exhausting of working fluid. Gas is taken in from a chamber 25 and exhausted by way of a port 26. Cooling is obtained by a water jacket and/or fins. Several engine units may operate on one shaft.
